The pages of this volume contain the genealogy of the descendants of David Hunter, the immigrant, who came from Aghadowey, Ireland, with his wife, Margaret Martin. They set sail from Londonderry, Ireland, and settled at Ardoise, Nova Scotia, rather by fate than by plan.
1921 Mrs. Alonzo Hunter of Christobal, Canal Zone, Panama, visited the Hunter families in Nova Scotia. She was interested in the family history and contacted relatives among whom was Mrs. Jane (Hunter) Miller, (Mrs., H. H. Miller) Newport Station, who had in her possession records of this first Hunter family. They compiled the two pages with the heading “CHRISTOBAL, CANAL ZONE, Sept. 9, 1921” which gives us the basic Information,
1959 Two great great granddaughters of Lodowick and Jane Gillmore Hunter decided to make further research and to complete as far as possible the genealogy of the descendants of David Hunter, the immigrant, and his wife Margaret Martin Hunter

DAVID HUNTER – MARGARET (MARTIN) HUNTER
This Hunter family originally came from County Ayr, Scotland. Due to religious persecution in Scotland, the Hunter family moved to Northern Ireland. The parish of Aghadowey, the reputed place of origin of David Hunter, lies about thirty miles east of the City of Londonderry in the valley of the River Bann a few miles south of the town of Coleraine.
David Hunter, the emigrant from Aghadowey, Londonderry County, Ireland, was of Scotch-Irish descent. Before leaving Ireland, he was married to Margaret Martin, daughter of Lodowick Martin, Province of Ulster….
