HISTORY OF ST. GEORGE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH OF FALMOUTH
Records show our Parish dates back to 1760. It was located on the west of the Avon River. In the early days, services were held only once a month. In a land grant of 1760, provision was made for support, both religion and education, in this community.Â
In 1783, a handsome Church for that time was constructed that was to stand until 1904. At that time the old Church was demolished, and our present Church was constructed a few yards from the original site. With its spire visible from a considerable distance, the structure complements the rice agricultural environment in which it stands. Beautiful stained-glass windows adorn this house of worship.Â
The Parish of Falmouth was to have continual spiritual leadership over the years. When King’s College was located in Windsor, students helped out when a resident Rector was unavailable.Â
