This is an account of more than 250 Nova Scotian vessels shipwrecked or disabled in United States Coastal waters between the years 1875 and 1914. Very detailed records for this period have been preserved in the published accounts of the US Life-Saving Service and it has been possible to compile statistics and accounts of incidents involving Nova Scotian vessels which were ship-wrecked or given assistance in US coastal waters. Included in the account are: names of vessels, home ports, voyage destinations, names of masters, crew and passenger numbers, cargoes and total damages and total number of persons lost or saved. Detailed information of the incidents appeared in the Annual Report of the Operations of the United States Life-Saving Service and these accounts have been included in this edition.
