Little Church at the Crossroads: Falmouth Baptist Church
By Gary Nelson.
A mystic itinerant preacher, a murder and a family held captive for four years provide the backdrop for the founding of the Falmouth Baptist Church. The history of this Little Church at the Crossroads in Falmouth, Nova Scotia holds many tales – a deacon who falls to his death from the parsonage barn roof, another deacon who serves for 57 years, a Sunday School Superintendent 50 years in the post, a quarrel when women are reminded “not to speak” at meetings, a young lady missionary in India for over 40 years, a minister who pays the supreme sacrifice in World War I, a great benefactor practically unknown to the Church. These together with the stories of individuals, families, events and buildings are the fabric woven into a tapestry that chronicles the life of Falmouth Baptist Church over its first 175 years.
This updated and expanded history of Falmouth Baptist Church was produced to celebrate its 175th Anniversary in 2018.
