Fort Edward Service Interpreter

Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm

Purpose:

The Service Interpreter will interpret the history of the Hants County area for visitors in both English and French. The main responsibilities of this position will be to conduct tours to promote the Fort. He or she may be required to plan and participate in events and/or fundraisers pertaining to the blockhouse or West Hants Historical Society.

Position Duties and Tasks:

Under the direction of a supervisor tasks assigned may include:

  • Welcomes, orients, and informs visitors of the site’s facilities and historical significance.
  • Welcome and provide orientation talks for groups and individuals.
  • Helps with fundraising projects and/or events. May be required to prepare English and French brochures, pamphlets, and write newspaper articles to promote Fort Edward.
  • Provides light custodial and security services to prevent loss defacing or destruction of artefacts /assets, and to ensure the safety of the visiting public.
  • Keeps the grounds surrounding the Fort clean of debris and garbage.
  • Performs other miscellaneous related duties.
