The local history of the Windsor-Falmouth district (Pisiquid) has long been one of my keen Interests. As a youth at Falmouth I became interested In the
legends of the Acadian people who had lived in the Pisiquid district prior to the arrival of the New England settlers. Longfellow’s poem. Evangeline had a
special meaning for me since my father’s home and apple orchards were located within a short distance of the Acadian marshes and near the site of an Acadian
church and cemetery,
Preparations for this historical sketch were made with the hope that the material could be released in 1960 in time for the 200th anniversary of the founding of Falmouth, The delay ln publication has been largely due to the difficulty in collecting facts of local history and data concerning the descendants of the many families who have lived at Falmouth.
