Walter Lunn was born in Newport Station, Hants County in 1894. At the start of the War, he volunteered for service with the 13th Battalion, the Royal Highlanders.  After a short training period, he was sent to the front lines in France. He was seriously wounded in 1916 and spent 9 months recovering in a hospital in England. Then, he was sent back to the front. For the next two years, he fought through many of the worst battles of the War. He was killed by machine gun fire on September 23, 1918 (one hundred years ago). This is his story…
