We are currently hiring summer students for the West Hants Historical Society. Beginning July 4 to August 30, 35 hours per week. Minimum wage.
Our hours of operation are Wednesday-Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
- Research Assistant - 8 weeks
- Museum Guide - 12 weeks
The successful candidates will be required to help with program development, research and curatorial support at the West Hants Historical Society Museum and Archives; will be required to become familiar with the history, displays and exhibits of the museum. Will support family and local history research; will inventory and record artifacts in a database to support the museum collection; will repair, maintain and update museum displays and exhibits; will provide outreach and take part of community programs.
Provide assistance to visitors, guided museum tours and support to researchers and educators. Fulfill requests for research materials and book purchases. Inventory and catalogue digital records so that data can be searched via keyboard or description. The positions will also include duties associated with special program development and general museum operations.
